Family Engagement

Meigs Academic Magnet Middle School recognizes the value and importance of meaningful parental involvement at the school and district level. Parents serve as key stakeholders to help all students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in school and life. Stakeholders work together to develop the Family Engagement Policy to serve the Meigs Academic Magnet School community.

The Meigs Family Engagement Policy includes input from parents, community members, and school personnel. The policy meets all mandates of state and federal regulatory standards.

Meigs Academic Magnet Middle School Parent Involvement
  • Conduct an annual evaluation of the content and effectiveness of the policy.
  • Evaluate the level of participation by parents.
  • Identify barriers to parent involvement:
    • Areas to note: minority populations, economically disadvantaged, disabled, limited English proficiency, and/or literacy
  • Provide access to a variety of family engagement opportunities in order to remove barriers that would prevent participation:
    • Offer flexible meeting times.
    • Provide multiple opportunities for parents to voice concerns and make suggestions related to the school and district improvement plan strategies.
    • Attend monthly parent advisory council meetings.
    • Schedule PTO meetings at a variety of times.
    • Implement a variety of modes for the PTO to communicate (PTO website, emails that include newsletters, announcements, and text messaging).
